kasha was raised with cats and has shown a maternal instinct around kittens; I like to get shots of cats and dogs together, but in a way that is not dangerous to the cat; I have the dog sit and stay, then have the cat approach it at its own pace and only if it is interested in meeting
Cataracts are difficult to hide when shooting, and are part of many aging dogs. The lighting you use is critical. Like red-eye, the glowing comes from light flashing too close to the lens. Your best bet will be to get low and shoot at eye-level or lower, using warm, natural light reflected towards your dog. Shoot knowing that the eyes will be an issue, so emphasise other things, like the nose, or paws or ears and avoid overpowering flash. Another strategy, shoot in high contrast, shade the cataract, and control the highlights. And, don't forget the power of post-production.
Your dog is your friend. Photograph the things you love about it, and cataracts are part of that. Your dog is your friend, not a paid model, have fun and document the relationship.
^.^ I really try, especially now that shes getting so old.
I have pictures from just about every stage in her life. We grew up together. I got her when I was five, and I'm 14 now. 9 years of life spent together this summer ^.^
Thanks for the help! I'll be sure to try that when I do my next picture of her.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

thanks for the praise!
Do you know any way to fix the glare that happens when you photograph dogs facing forward?
My dog has a cataract, so one eye is cloudy and the other glows green whenever I take her picture.
